Description:

Amborella trichopoda is a small, vascular land plant that is endemic to the South Pacific Islands of New Caledonia.

Amborella, is the sole extant representative of the most basal clade of Angiosperms. As such, it plays an important role in understanding plant gene function and evolution of flowering plants.
