Nonprofit Phoenix Bioinformatics, provider of sustainability solutions for digital research tools, is pleased to announce that Joshua Young has been appointed Executive Director following the retirement of its founding ED, Eva Huala.
Todd Vision, Chairperson of the Phoenix Bioinformatics Board said:
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome Joshua to Phoenix Bioinformatics. His extensive track record of organizing communities in support of important digital research resources, combined with his deep familiarity with how scientific infrastructure is maintained, governed and sustained, makes him an ideal fit for our organization”.
Joshua joined us from theUniversity Corporation for Atmospheric Research where he led the community engagement, governance, and strategy ofUnidata, a provider of data services and tools to the geosciences community. His education includes a B.S in biology from Lees-McRae College, a Master’s in environmental science from the College of Charleston, and a Master’s in public administration from the University of Colorado Denver where he is also a current doctoral candidate in Public Affairs.
“The Phoenix mission and my own are aligned in many dimensions,” Joshua said. He continued: “Throughout my career, I have sought to accelerate research through improved access to infrastructure and results, better administration, and stronger communities. Joining the small and dedicated team at Phoenix Bioinformatics is a privilege and I look forward to getting to know them, and the scientific community which we serve, over the coming months."
